Book Making: Coptic Journals

Wednesdays 9:30 am - 12:30 pm April 9 & 16 $30 plus $10 materials fee Coptic Book Binding is a method developed in Egypt in the 2nd century AD. These books make exquisite journals for watercolor, writing, scrapbooking and other purposes. They make wonderful journals and memorable gifts. You'll find these books for sale in fancy gift shops. You don't need any previous experience with bookmaking to learn this artful technique. Claudia teaches with a kind of clarity and enthusiasm that makes learning new skills very easy. Due to the process required, this class will take place in two 3-hour sessions. Claudia Fuller is a mixed media artist who has always enjoyed creating artful items. Twelve years ago she made her first book and hasn't stopped since. She makes books for gifts and she makes books to fill with her art making. She uses watercolor papers, handmade decorative papers, book board and book cloth for some journals and recycled boxes and cardboard for others. Filling books with painting, calligraphy, quotes and memories is how she documents her life.
